우리 나라 사이트에서는 서로 어떤게 더 낫다고 하는데, 2265B가 더 좋니... 2275,2325가 좋니...  2265b가 더 좋다는 출처는 황준님의 블로그가 가장 크게 영향을 미친 것 같다. 그나저나...황준님은 2285B 진짜 싫어하신가 보다. ㅎㅎㅎ

 2285B는 해외에서는 마란츠 최고의 리시버로 꼽고 있는데, 국내에서는 몇 몇 분들의 반복적인 2285B "까기"로 국내에서는 혹평을.... (황모님. ㅋㅋ)

나 또한 위 언급한 기종들을 상당기간 여러기기들과 사용해봤거나, 사용중이다.

  2265B와 2285B 를 비교할 때는 2265B의 풍성하면서 까칠한 맛이 좋아서, 2265B를 두번째 영입해서 사용중이다. 만약 '내게' 2265B와 2330B 둘 중에 선택하라고 한다면?

그건 내가 현재 가지고 있는 스피커에 따라 다르겠다.

일반적으로 많은 오디오 파일들이 마란츠 리시버중에서는 2285B , 2330B, 녹턴형인 2325 가 최고로 생각하는데, 간혹 꽤 많은 사람들이 출시 때부터 지금까지도 2265B 가 가장 뛰어나다고 이야기 하곤 한다.

 리시버로는 2325가 두툼하기는 하나 좀 거친 듯한 느낌으로 그것이 장점이자 단점으로 볼 수 있었던 제품이었고, 그후 샴페인 골드 색상의 리시버로는 는 2265B가 상급기인 2330B나 2285B보다 오히려 가장 윤기있고 찰진 소리를 들려주지 않았나 싶다. 

인티로는 1250이 단연 파워감과 마란츠 특유의 색채감에서 충실한 소리를 들려주었으며, 튜너는  2100은 가격도 저렴하고 듣기 무난한 기기이며, 외형은 고급스럽지만 좀 예민한 듯한 St-8보다는 125와 150을 베스트 기기로 추천하고 싶다.

"Marantz". 오디오 마니아들에겐 아마도 오디오의 귀족 쯤으로 기억되는 기기가 아닐까.♣

마란츠 리시버는 일본으로 회사가 넘어온 이후 일본 마란츠의 황금기를 구가한 22시리즈의 주력모델이다. 이전에도 전면 패널부분이 검은(일명 녹턴형) 22시리즈(우리에게 익숙한 제품으로는 71년에 발매된 2245, 2270, 74년에 발매된 2275, 2325 등이 있다)가 있었지만 이를 대폭 개량하여 판넬 전면이 은색으로 출시하여 빅 히트를 기록했다. 음질상으로도 전 모델들을 압도한다.
 2218, 2226B, 2238B, 2252B, 2265B, 2285B, 2330B, 2385B, 2500, 2600 이 있었다. 모두 10종류가 출시되었으나 2265B, 2285B, 2330B 3종류의 모델이 시리즈 가은데 가장 인기있었던 제품이었다. (2218B는 캔 출력석대신 빈대석이 사용되어 출력은 작지만 소리가 맑아 인기가 있었다) 판매 당시 JBL 스피커와 짤떡궁합의 매칭이라고 불리기도 했다. 하지만, 실재 음질은 2265B와 2252B 가 좋았다. 
특히 2252B 모델만큼은 JBL 스피커뿐 아니라 당시 유행했던 AR 17가 매칭이 아주 좋았다. 또한, 2265B는 2285B에 비교하여 음질상, 출력상으로 2285B를 능가하는 성능을 보여주었다. 데이터 상의 출력과는 반대로 앰프의 무게는 오히려 2265B가 무거워서(2285B는 트랜스가 작은 것이 2개인 모노럴 방식) 가격대 성능비를 굳이 논하지 않더라도 2265B를 선호하는 경향이 있었다. 10년전 형성된 중고 가격이 변하지 않을 정도로 꾸준히 인기가 있는 제품이다. 간혹 전면의 램프가 나간 것이 있는데 퓨즈램프(램프는 세운상가 주변에서 1000원 정도에 
구입할 수 있다)를 구입하여 교환해주면 된다. 현재에도 오디오의 입문기로 가장 인기있는 
앰프 중 하나이다.

내가 느끼기에 2252B, 2265B, 2330B 는 해외 포럼 유저들도 모던하다고 평한다. 박진감도 있고, 중고음도 더 화사하다.  반면에 2285B 는 녹턴형 리시버들과 비슷한 조금 더 빈티지 소리랄까. 더 부드럽다. 개인적으로는 나 역시 2265B 가 가장 좋더라!

중고 시세는

2265B : 65~70만

2285B : 70~75만

2330B : 75~80만

2325 : 75~80만

황준님의 기기평은 거의 대부분 내 취향에도 잘 들어맞는 것 같아서, 상당히 신뢰하는 편이다. -_-;;

숨은명기 -11 포스트에서도...

산수이 661과 771, 두 모델은 1970년대를 주름잡던 산수이 리시버 001 시리즈의 중간급 모델입니다. 채널당 35W, 40W에 불과하지만, 마란츠 2285B보다도 힘이 더 좋습니다. 저역이 듬직하고 전체적인 소리결에 온도감이 있습니다. 특히, 중역이 좋아서 보컬에는 아주 장점이 있습니다.

워스트 매칭 30선 AR4X+2285B에서도 머...그리..(황준님은 AR 과 보스 매니아임)

대부분이 기준 이상의 소리를 내어 주었는데, 몇몇 조합에서는 소리가 좋지 않았습니다. 그 중에서도 가장 소리가 좋지 않았던 조합이 있었습니다. 마란츠 최고 인기 모델인 2285B와 AR-4x 와의 조합은 멍청한 소리 그 자체였다고 기억됩니다. 일단 마란츠 2285B가 AR-4x를 전혀 통제하지 못합니다. 힘이 부족한 것은 아닐 것 같은데, 저역은 거의 없고 중역은 초점이 없으면서(중역 유닛은 없지만 보컬이 초점이 없었습니다) 고역은 선명하지 못하더군요.

WORST 매칭 30선 2. 마란츠 2285 + JBL L-112

실재로 2285B와 L-112의 조합을 들어 본 순간, ‘이건 아닌데.....’라는 생각이 들더군요. 처음에는 ‘앰프나 스피커에 문제가 있나?’라고 생각했지만, 이후 들어 본 2285B와 L-112의 조합 역시 마찬가지였습니다.

4,5차례 들어 본 후, ‘두 기기의 조합이 매칭이 좋지 않다’라고 결론내릴 수 밖에 없었습니다. 하지만 신기하게도 2285B의 하급기인 2265B와 L-112를 연결하면 아주 좋은 소리를 내어 줍니다.

반면, 2330BD는 2285BD보다 폭과 높이가 크기가 더 크다. 가정보다는 업소에서 사용된 것들이 많아서 샵에 나온 제품들중에는 깨끗하지 않은 것이 많다. 이 모델을 중고로 구입하는 경우에는 반드시 출력석을 확인해 보는 것이 좋다. 이러한 이유로 소비자들이 이 모델을 중고로 구입하기 꺼리는 경향이 있지만 가정용으로 깨끗이 사용했던 것은 파워면에서 2265B와 2285B를 능가한다.

이 친구는 처음에 마란츠 2252B와 AR-17로 제대로된 오디오 생활을 시작했습니다. 좋은 소리였다고 합니다. 그러다 앰프를 상급기인 2285B로 바꾸었는데, 음질이 오히려 2252B보다 못했다고 합니다. 그래서, 스피커에 문제가 있구나 라고 생각하고, 친구가 가지고 있던 4312를 가져왔습니다. 그런데, 이는 소리가 더 좋지 않은 것입니다. 그런데 샵주인이 마침 4312보다 상급기이면서 매칭이 좋은 4425가 있으니 구입을 하라고 해서 가져오게 되었는데, 저역 퍼지는 것이 상상을 초월하는 멍청한 소리가 나오는데 놀라지 않을 수 없었습니다. 그래서 JBL과는 인연을 끝내고 다른 스피커로 가보자라고 마음먹고 AR-4x를 들여 놓았습니다. 하지만, 그것 역시 소리가 안좋은 것을 알고 너무 화가 나서 모두 팔아버리고 오디오를 하지 않기로 마음먹고 있었는데, ... 황준님이 진짜 2285B 제대로 깐 거 같음! -_-;; 근데, 딱히 모라 하기 어려운 이유 중에 하나가.... 저기서 언급한 인기있는 스피커들과 정말 2285B과 궁합이 좋다라고 반박할 수 있는 건 또 하나도 없다는 것이다. 그렇다면, 국내 유저들이 선호하는 스피커들과 2285B가 저렇게 안맞는다는 것은 최소한 국내에서는 과대평가 됐다고 말하는 것도 충분히 일리있는 것 같다. 다음은 해외 포럼인데, 해외 포럼은 다들 2285B가 당연히 더 뛰어나다고 이야기 하고 있다. 주로 듣는 스피커들이 달라서 그런가? ^^

Read some threads here. But is there a consensus on which vintage 1970s era Marantz receiver/s sounds the best and has the best phono and tuning sections? Also, who are the best folks to restore them? For example, Terry DeWick is the McIntosh guru. Is there a guy like him that is an expert on restoring Marantz? Thanks!

이 주제는 지난 몇 년 동안 주기적으로 발생했다. 가장 자주 언급된 모델은 2230과 2285B 였던 것 같다.

 

This topic has come up periodically over the past few years. I think the most frequently-mentioned ones for sound quality are the 2230 and the 2285B, but since few people have heard many of the different models, often people just say they like the one they own, so nearly all models get mentioned at least once! From my own experience with over a dozen different units from the series, I'd agree with the two mentioned being the "sweet spots" in the lineup. The 2285B is a personal favorite.

There are several reputable techs on AK who do excellent work on Marantz gear. I wouldn't want to make any recommendations, though, because (1) none of my own gear has been worked on by any of them, and (2) I've only seen/heard Marantz gear refurbished by one of them, and not the others.

I was thinking of possibly getting, or at least looking for one of these. Any MAJOR differences besides the obvious power?

I found that I liked the 2226b but hated the 2252b. The 52 was edgy and had a volume control like an on/off switch.

How do the 2265b and 2285b's sound as compared to the 2270 type series?

Mainsvoltage 230Volt/50Hz 400Hz sinewave (it's easier to my ears than 1kHz) both channel driven into 8 and 4 Ohms resistive load at no more than 0,5% distortion:

Marantz 2270: 85W/8 or 125/4 Ohm

Marantz 2275: 85W/8 or 130/4 Ohm

Marantz 2285: 100W/8 or 140/4 Ohm

Marantz 2265B: 78W/8 or 105/4 Ohm

Marantz 2285B: 95W/8 or 130/4 Ohm

Yeah, the 2285B has dual core filter caps that are a PITA to replace. You have to fit 2 filters in the space of one of the originals. But I'd still go with the 2285B, it has a reputation as the best Marantz receiver for a reason.

I have a restored 2265B and restored 2275. I can tell you that the extra power makes a big difference. A 2265B working at peak performance is a fine machine and wouldn't leave you disappointed. A 2285B will likely put you over the top. Folks are paying a premium for the 2285B for good reasons. 

As for the 2265B vs. 2270 series sound, I'd say the 2275 is a little smoother and warmer. The 2265B has a 2 martini vs the 2275's 3 martini sound.

Agreed with the others. At one time or another, I've owned the 2265B, 2270, 2275, and 2285B. The 2265B had power enough but the 2285B had a deeper power reserve which helps to flesh out the sound. The 2270 has an older sound as it should being a 1972-1974 model. The 2275 is more detailed than the 2270 and seems to hit a little harder than the 2285B, which surprises me. Maybe it is the single core caps and the dual heatsinks? That being said, I still own a 2285B as my sole example of a "small" chassis Marantz receiver.

I agree with SoCal Sam's asssessment of these. I still own all of these models: 2265B, 2270, 2275 (x2), and 2285B (x2). I would rank their sound quality in the same order as their power ratings, with the 2285B just edging out the 2275, which is almost as good. I could see where some might prefer the 2275, depending on their sonic preferences, but I'd still pick the 2285B as the best one overall. 

As for looks, I prefer the "complete" set of knobs on the 2285B (gap-toothed ladies just aren't as attractive :D), but the 2275 in a black (not walnut) case that picks up the dark dial face looks stunningly good, both vintage and modern at the same time. Hard to pick which really looks best. 

If all you get is the 2265B, you won't be disappointed with it, but if you are looking for even better sound, move up the 'ladder'!

The 2270 has a mellower sounding tube like delivery too her .. The 2265B is more modern sounding .. The 2285B is again more modern sounding but kicks hardcore in all departments .. The 2275 is warm , in your face powerful , with a killer bottom end ..

I'm certainly in no position to dispute what anyone here as written, especially those who have owned a number of the units in question. But, having said that, isn't it to some degree a function of the speakers you are driving? After all, the smallest unit being discussed is 65 WPC (and 65 conservative Marantz watts at that), yet I often read comments about how good various Marantz receivers with MUCH lower WPC sound. And on the flip side of that argument, why aren't the large chassis receivers having substantially more WPC, 125 and up, talked about as sounding a lot better than the relatively high WPC (for small chassis) receivers that are the subject of this thread? I understand reserve power for transients, but how much do you need if you aren't driving big speakers?

I have a 2285B and it is delicious. I would agree with above comments in that it has a more modern sound, but for me that works well with the music I listen to and the speakers I drive with it. TONS of power, which gives you a lot to play with.

Oh and it's really purty :D

I have a 2285B driving some recent VAF (Australian) speakers, not crazy-audiophile but well-regarded, neutral and carefully engineered speakers. I had previous amps driving them and they sounded dead (smaller Rotel integrated) and loud but fatiguing (Marantz PM520DC from the Philips era). Bought the 2285B because I wanted to try a 70s Marantz and this showed up in my local TV repair shop. Fell in love INSTANTLY, fixed everything that bugged me about the other amps (same CD player as the source for all three, by the way). I've done some re-capping because of reliability issues like the relay circuit, and it still sounds just as good. Originally had it in a very "live" room which wasn't great for listening, but in better rooms it has surprised me more and more and I will never tire of it, I reckon.

Regarding the dual-section caps - I have bought four electrolytics of the correct rating, and the can size will allow me to stack pairs in exactly the same dimensions as the original dual-section caps. Which I will do when I get a bunch of free time. I should do it sooner rather than later, I guess, so the originals don't fail and take the whole thing down.

All a matter of taste, I guess. I think the 2285B looks too busy, for lack of a better term, whereas I like the row of 7 knobs and row of 11 buttons (grouped in fairly logical function groups) of the 2265B. But how they sound is the main thing, and if I ever run across a good deal on a 2285B, it will come home with me.

I cannot remember if I have ever seen pics of Arkay's 2275 in the black wood. On a similar note, I in general don't like the black European versions. Again, just a matter of taste. But I did see a picture of a black one (don't remember the exact model, but I think it was a 22xxB in the style of the 2252B, 2265B, etc.) in a "regular" color wood case, and I must say it looked quite elegant.
