풍부한 입력단자와 컴팩트한 사이즈(단, 깊이는 무척 깊군요), 좋은 구동력, 넓고 풍부한 음장... 부드러운 고역...오리지날 6의 다소 차갑다는 평가때문인지 그 부분이 없어졌다는 평가입니다. 리모컨이 지원되지만 노브 조작감도 상당히 좋습니다.

Cyrus 6vs ★★★★★ 

총평 : 그렇지 않아도 우수한 앰프를 다시 한번 크게 업그레이드한 제품. 

이번에 업그레이드된 6vs는 Cyrus의 최신 기술인 Virtual Servo (vs라는 이름이 붙여진 이유이기도 함)를 채용했음에도 불구하고 가격은 Cyrus6 보다 비싸지 않다. Cyrus에 따르면 이 신기술에 대한 자세한 내용은 기밀사항이지만 기본적으로 신호 경로의 몇 가지 주요 요소의 질을 향상시켜주고 프리앰프 부분의 작동방식을 최적화 해 준다고 한다. 좋은 시도이다. 

이 앰프는 전통적으로 빠르기로 소문난 Cyrus의 명성을 엿볼 수 있어 Cyrus 8에 훨씬 가깝다. 풍부한 디테일은 Art Ensenble of Chicago의 "Theme de Yoyo" 처럼 고약하리만큼 복잡한 재즈도 전혀 힘들이지 않고 쉽게 뽑아낸다. 게다가 음장도 넓고 정확하기까지 하다. 

신형 6vs는 단순히 "더 향상된 제품"이 아니라 "상당히 향상된 제품"이다. 고역은 부드럽고 사운드 전달도 더 감동적이고 열정적이다. 이전 모델의 약간 냉랭한 맛은 사라졌다....(이하 생략)

Cyrus의 고급스러운 외관과 다양한 사양의 조합은 이 제품을 유망한

패키지로 만들었다...

 

이제품은 80년대 초에 출시되었던 선조 모델에서 진화된 또 다른 앰프이다. 오리지널 Mission Cyrus 앰프는 자그마한 크기로 좋은 소리를 내는 성공적인 방식을 보여주었으며 90년대 중반에는 Cyrus 3가 이 모델과 같은 예쁘장한 합금 케이스와 함께 세련된 모습을 보여주었다. 몇 세대가 지난 지금 6a가 정말로 날렵한 패키지로 선을 보였다.

솔직하게 말하자면, 크기다 달라진 것이다. 이는 앰프의 내부가 남자부 100m 최종결선이 열리는 올림픽 공원에 가는 지하철보다 더 복잡하다는 의미이다. 냉각은 측면에 달린 방열판을 통해 이루어지기 때문에 그다지 크지 않은 용량의 40W짜리 Cyrus는 아주 뜨겁게 달아 오른다. 이 앰프는 정상적인 볼륨으로 들어도 열이 나지만 파티 장 에서 사용하려면 환기를 잘 시켜야 할 것이다.

물론 상판의 디자인은 마누라같이 친근한 느낌을 주며, 그렇기 때문에 같은 방에서 사용하더라도 Yamaha 앞에 앉아있는 것보다는 리스닝룸이 훨씬 크게 느껴지기까지 한다! 사용자가 설정할 수 있는 여섯 개의 아날로그 입력단자와 스피커용 이중 출력단자가 있어서 사양 면에서도 확실히 부족함이 없다. 그렇지만 밀폐형 스피커용 소켓은 사용하기에 불편하기 때문에 대다수의 사용자들은 케이블을 연결할 때 Cyrus 전용 플러그를 사용해야 할 것이다. 동사의 전통에 따라 이 앰프는 다양한 DAC 또는 파워 앰프 업그레이드를 위해서 본사로 돌려보낼 수도 있다.

 

음질

 

이 제품은 관심을 끄는 연주장치 로서의 능력을 가지고 있다는 것은 명백하지만 처음에는 소리가 울려 퍼지는 느낌을 줄 정도로 인상적인 느낌은 없었다. NAD가 시작할 때부터 사람들의 호감을 얻고 영향을 미치는 반면에 Cyrus는 좀 더 미묘한 즐거움을 준다는 것이 입증되었다.

비발디의 곡부터 시작했는데, 패널리스트들은 모두 듣기에 좋다고 느꼈다. 처음이나 중간이나 끝날 때까지 훨씬 더 확실하고 정연한 감각을 가지고 고른 보조와 더불어 느긋하게 음악을 재현했다. 톤의 품질도 매우 훌륭하고 저역도 상당히 강력했으며 - 비록 NAD나 Yamaha보다는 약했지만 - 중역에서도 소리가 움츠려 들지 않고 멋질 정도로 매끄러웠다. 까다로운 사람들에게는 중역 상위부가 약간 지나치게 강조되는 듯했을 수도 있지만 전반적으로 이번 그룹의 다른 기기에 비래 훨씬 더 고른 연주를 들려주었다.

샤데이의 <Smooth Operator>로 옮겨가자 이번 그룹 대다수의 제품에서 활기를 볼 수 없었던 미즈 아두의 보컬이 미묘하고 감성적으로 들려왔다. 백 밴드의 연주도 아주 멋지게 흘러가서 뭐라고 탓할 것이 없었다. “디테일이 풍부해서 듣기에 좋다”하고 한 패널리스트가 의견을 밝히기도 했다. 어딘지 모르게 고역 상위부가 줄어드는 느낌도 약간 있었지만 그렇다고 해서 6a는 녹음된 음향을 잘라버리지는 않았다. 그러나 대다수의 사람들은 매우 자연스러운 톤 밸런스를 가지고 있다는 생각이었다.

사실, 이 기기는 다소 딱딱한 VCMG의 곡에서 리스너를 괴롭히지 않으면서도 이 음악의 절박함을 잘 잡아내어 매우 듣기 좋게 재현했다. Cyrus는 NAD같이 집을 뒤흔들지 않으면서도 음악의 율동을 정말로 느낄 수 있게 했다. 짐 화이트의 곡에서는 빗소리를 아주 효과적으로 재현함으로써 섬세한 특성을 입증하여 다른 제품에서는 그 소리가 인위적인 느낌을 주었던 반면에 이번에는 그의 노래에서 사색적인 분위기를 느끼게 만들었다. NAD에 비해 아주 조금 더 미묘하지만 겉만 번드르르하다는 느낌이 덜해서 진정한 스타임을 입증했다.

 

SOUND QUALITY

 

장점: 매우 익숙하고 쉽게 이해하기 쉬우며 자연스러운 소리; 업그레이드 가능; 스타일링과 전체적인 상태

단점: 열이 발생할 수도 있다; 절대적인 파워가 부족

총평: 대단히 훌륭한 음향성능과 예쁜 외관뿐만 아니라 구입 여건상 아주 적절한 위상를 차지하고 있다

난 사이러스6를 가장 좋아했다. 타격감(punchy), 부드럽진 않지만, 명확함, 쾌활함.

 I liked the Cyrus 6 best - punchy, clear but smooth, enjoyable. Everything later, howsover it was configured, was just increasingly harsh in comparison. By the time we got to the monos it was a kind of 'cinema sound ' - an artificial boost obvious in the presence range, lots of apparent bass through being not so well controlled, relentless/hard overall. IOW a clearly tailored sound, not a 'low distortion at any cost' approach. I thought the Unison was baggy and indistinct by comparison with all the SS candidates, and the Cyrus 2 and 6 my best of the day. Make of that what you will!

I'd actually been meaning to look for the thread relating to this, and find that it is still there in the cyrusunnofficial archive. Looking back, it set in motion much of what I have been exploring since.

On the pre amp front, other than a Cyrus pre X we also had a Musical Fidelity passive to play with which I rather liked at the time and subsequently had both TVC and LDR passives before finally (four years later) returning to an active now.

The earliest Cyrus was in fact a 1 not a 2, so that must have been the one you liked Martin and yes, similar to the Nait is my memory.
Sadly the 3 was DOA - unhealthy cracking noises were all we got and it went back to Huntingdon shortly thereafter.

나는 사이러스 7이 6보다 좋을 줄 알았는데, 그렇지 않아서 약간 놀랬다. (사이러스 5 / 7 < 6 / 8 )

I fully expected the 7 to sound better than the 6 and was rather surprised

1. that it didn't
and 
2. that all present agreed. (Given the varying audio tastes represented on the day.)

It should also be remembered that, in theory at least, the 6 is to the 8 as the 5 is to the 7, ie the lower powered sibling. You don't often hear the 5 mentioned though.

In addition to the mono Xs, I also had a Smartpower at the time, the Cyrus switchable stereo/mono amp and I think that was most likely the tipping point into 'cinema sound' - paired with a pre X I think there was only one of the assembled who expressed a liking for the results.

Getting back to the 6, I still have it and still use it - it runs the kitchen speakers.
I think that the pairing with the Vandersteens was probably the best it ever sounded in that room though. I never did get to a properly efficient speaker (though I did get to hear some, thanks Martin) and things like the big old Kefs that were one of the options at the time really didn't do it any favours.

The smartpower did go, the Cyrus CD6 stayed and has recently been back for a new laser. Again, on the day, it was blamed for the harshness that started to become apparent (at which point we switched to a CD player with valves in, make of that what you will.) It actually sounded best with the C6 which isn't particularly surprising and at the present time I think it still sounds rather good - though everything else around it has changed.

I also spent a number of years thinking I might like a valve amp and auditioned a fair few - the Unison wasn't particularly to my taste either, others I found better.

There was also an EAR 834P there on the day which I'd always assumed I'd move to as and when I changed phono stage.

And so to the present day, I never did buy an EAR but the phono stage of my pre is valve based and though the power amp does have a single valve the power is from MOSFETs. I caused some surprise at home the other day when I said that the current amps were likely to stay for a long time; I do think that may well be the case though.
